MYOCARE NATIONAL FOUNDATION is an Egyptian nonprofit NGO working in the field of muscular dystrophy to optimize care and access to therapy for muscular dystrophy patients in the region We were founded in 2019 as an Egyptian nonprofit NGO governed by a board of directors of national and international NMD experts and muscular dystrophy patients
Mission
1. Provide education and raise awareness among medical professionals on international standards of care
2. Improve care provide diagnosis carrier testing and multidisciplinary care for MD patients their families in our affiliated specialized medical center in Saida Nafisa hospital
3. Promote research to understand the genotype phenotype characteristics of Egyptian MD patients and support translational research
Maintain the patient registry to facilitate readiness for clinical trials and patients access to the new genetic therapies
Medical facility
In 2021 Myocare developed a partnership with NewGiza University NGU school of medicine to establish a specialized medical center for muscle disease as part of the rare disorders project in the Saida Nafisa community hospital which was open for patients for free starting January 2022
Registry
The MyoCare Foundation hosts the Egyptian Neuromuscular Registry currently there are 2400 neuromuscular disease patients registered the ENMR has been part of the TREATNMD global registry since 2012 httpstreatnmdorgpatientregistrynmdregistrydmdbmdfshdlgmdgnedmegypt
Research Grants
In 2022 MyoCare National Foundation in partnership with the NGU school of medicine Research center succeded in receiving funding from the Science and Technology Development Fund STDF to study the Genomics and Transcriptomics of Egyptian LGMD patients
