Along with most of you, the TREAT-NMD newsletter usually takes a break each August. However, this year, we wanted to bring you a special summer edition with exciting updates on the TREAT-NMD conference as well as some information on important dates to look out for.

World Duchenne Awareness Day
7th of September is World Duchenne Awareness Day. The theme this year is women and Duchenne and there will be a free educational event also called Women and Duchenne which will launch on September 7, 15:00 CEST. This event is for anyone interested in how we can create a better future for people living with Duchenne and Becker MD.
Myotonic Dystrophy Awareness Day
Myotonic Dystrophy Awareness Day will take place on September 15th. The aim is to raise awareness of myotonic dystrophy in order to improve service provision, basic research, drug development, and policymaking related to the disease. Ways in which to get involved in helping to raise awareness can be found on the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundations website and includes sharing the logo and facts about the campaign to share on social media, advocacy and more.
LGMD Awareness Day
LGMD awareness day takes place on September 30th and is intended to be an annual collaborative effort to globally raise awareness of individuals living with limb-girdle muscular dystrophy. All individuals with LGMD, family members, organizations, health care professionals, researchers, drug developers, public health organizations, and any association with an interest in LGMD are invited to join together and help in increasing awareness of these rare and progressive neuromuscular diseases. Ways in which you can be involved can be found on the LGMD Awareness Foundations website
TREAT-NMD Conference Abstracts
We are also very pleased to announce that we have extended the deadline to submit your abstracts for the TREAT-NMD conference.
The new deadline is the 23rd of September 2022
