Postdoctoral Research in Myositis
Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
Closing date: 30 August 2019
A postdoctoral position is available at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, to study a xenograft mouse model of myositis in the laboratory of Thomas E. Lloyd, MD, PhD. In this model, human muscle biopsies are transplanted into immunodeficient mice, and the human muscle biopsies are transplanted into immunodeficient mice, and the human muscle regenerates and is rennervated and revascularized by the mouse host. This exciting precision medicine initiative will use state-of-the art technologies to explore the interaction between the immune system and regenerating between the immune system and regenerating muscle in autoimmune myopathies such as inclusion body myositis, immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy, and dermatomyositis. Expertise in immunology, myology, or mouse models of neuromuscular disease is preferred. The Lloyd laboratory uses a combination of genetic, molecular, cellular, physiologic, and imaging approaches in Drosophila, mouse, and iPS models in addition to human brain and muscle tissue to study the cell
biology of degenerative diseases affecting the neuromuscular system.
